MCP integration
The Model Context Protocol (MCP) integration lets AI-powered tools like Cursor, Claude Desktop, and other MCP-compatible clients connect directly to your Guides Knowledge AI domain as a knowledge source.
Configure the MCP tool.
Open Settings → MCP configuration and select the Configure tab. Here you can:
- API key — assign an existing API key to the MCP integration (or create one under Settings → API keys first).
- Tool name — a short identifier for this MCP tool. Only lowercase letters, digits, and underscores are allowed (max 64 characters). Changing the name may break policies in clients that reference it.
- Description — a human-readable description of the tool (up to 2,000 characters). MCP clients display this to help users understand what the tool provides.
Install the MCP server in your client.
Switch to the Install tab. Before setup, you must review and accept the Terms of Use covering intended use, data access, AI-generated content, and security compliance. After accepting:
- Ensure an API key is assigned to MCP in the Configure tab. If none is assigned, a prompt will direct you to the API keys settings.
- Choose Install in Cursor to open Cursor with the server pre-configured, or choose Download config file to get a JSON configuration you can manually add to any MCP-compatible client.
- For other clients, copy the server URL and authentication token from the downloaded config into your client's MCP settings.
